FAQs
How do I know if my dog has separation anxiety?
Your dog may show anxious body language signs (such as lip licking, pacing around, panting) from the moment you prepare to leave the house, or commonly in the first 30 minutes of being alone. These can escalate to barking, howling, or destruction and they continue until you return home to them.
How long does it take to cure Separation Anxiety?
Every dog is different, and Separation Anxiety is a phobia which is not something that gets better on it’s own or can be ‘fixed’ quickly. Progress can rely on many factors, but the programmes I offer get you set up for success and give you the knowledge to help your dog. It is a gradual process and it is impossible to give an exact timeframe, but I will help you for as long as you need me, and to give you all the information so you can continue making progress thereafter.
Can I cancel anytime?
If joining the Group course, then the commitment is for the 8 weeks. After this in the membership, or if you are a VIP 1-2-1 client, then yes, there is no time commitment, but many of my clients work with me for longer durations for the support as they gradually increase the time they can be away from home with their dog settled and relaxed.
Does my dog have to be a certain age?
I have helped dogs of all ages, so there is no restriction. You may want to learn how to help your puppy start right with this new skill, so there are no problems in the future, or you may have an older dog that is now showing signs of fear when home alone.
I've tried lots of things, so why is this different?
You may have read or heard about many ways to ‘help’ such as leaving music on, giving them food, or just letting them carry on crying. None of these help to teach your dog to feel safe when home alone, as I learnt with my own dog. This method I will show you is the one that has been scientifically proven to get the best results to help your dog overcome separation anxiety. Although any behaviour change is not guaranteed, and as long as there are no other medical or underlying conditions causing the anxiety (or untreated/managed), then this approach will work for you.
